Job summary

Interac is seeking an accomplished Senior Software Engineer to lead Money Movement platform development. You will steer architecture, design, and modernization of enterprise‑scale applications built with Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate/JPA, REST/SOAP, and AWS.

In this role, you will mentor engineers, drive best practices, and collaborate with architects to deliver secure, high‑availability payment solutions that align with Interac's modernization initiatives.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software development experience.
• 3+ years leading technical teams or major development initiatives.
• Expert‑level Java development.
• Experience delivering enterprise‑level applications in complex environments.
• Experience working within Agile development teams.
• Strong Spring Boot and Spring Framework expertise.
• Strong Hibernate/JPA implementation experience.
• Experience developing RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Knowledge of API versioning, security, and governance practices.
• AWS cloud services; CI/CD pipelines; containerized deployments.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for Java‑based application development initiatives.
• Lead solution design discussions and ensure alignment with enterprise architecture standards.
• Define and promote software engineering best practices, coding standards, and design patterns.
• Conduct architecture reviews, code reviews, and technical design reviews.
• Mentor developers and foster a culture of engineering excellence and continuous improvement.
• Support technical decision‑making and technology roadmap development.
• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise‑grade applications using Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate/JPA, REST/SOAP, and AWS.
• Develop reusable frameworks, shared components, and integration services.
• Build and maintain secure, scalable APIs and data persistence layers.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production and application issues.
• Design service‑oriented and event‑driven solutions; implement secure authentication/authorization.
