Job summary

Dynacare in Brampton, Ontario is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Assistant to join the Molecular Medicine team. You will prepare samples and reagents, perform simple non-interpretive tests under supervision, and participate in quality assurance programs.

The role is permanent full-time with day shifts; responsibilities include labeling samples, instrument operation, data entry, and maintaining equipment and supplies.

Qualifications

• Requires Medical Laboratory Assistant Certification or graduation from an approved laboratory assistant course or health/science degree.
• Excellent data entry skills required.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure samples are properly labeled and identified before testing.
• Follow protocol for handling unsuitable samples.
• Operate complex instruments per department procedures.
• Perform simple non-interpretive testing procedures.
• Process abnormal, critical and STAT results per guidelines.
• Follow up on missing samples and document results.
• Ensure supplies and validated reagents are in-date and available.
• Data enter results into the database.
• Monitor quality control and make corrections as needed.
• Refer results to Medical Laboratory Technologist for review.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance and document it.
• Observe and report equipment malfunctions and maintain logbooks.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
