Job summary

Dynacare in Brampton, Ontario invites applications for a Clinical Laboratory Assistant to support the Histology team. You will prepare samples, perform simple non-interpretive tests under oversight, and ensure quality checks and proper documentation.

The role is a contract full-time position (15 months) with a 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. shift. Experience in histology is preferred and confidentiality in MOH guidelines is expected.

Qualifications

• Medical Laboratory Assistant Certification required or graduate of an approved laboratory assistant course or Diploma/Degree in Health or Science required
• Excellent data entry skills required
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team centered environment

Responsibilities

• Label and identify all samples before testing
• Follow protocol for handling of unsuitable samples
• Operate complex instruments following department procedures
• Perform simple non-interpretive testing procedures
• Process abnormal/critical/STATS as outlined in guidelines
• Follow up on missing samples and document results
• Handle inquiries professionally
• Ensure supplies and reagents are in date
• Data enter results into the company database
• Maintain quality control checks as required
• Refer results to Medical Laboratory Technologist for review
• Monitor quality control and follow QA/QC procedures
• Perform routine equipment maintenance and log activities
• Observe and report equipment malfunctions
• Disinfect work area and equipment daily
• Store and discard specimens per procedures
