Job description

LaPrairie Crane is one of Canada’s largest independent mobile-crane companies with fleet capabilities ranging from 5 – 600 tons, including all terrain, boom truck, carry deck, crawler, hydraulic truck, rough terrain, and tower cranes.

We are seeking applications from skilled and experienced Mobile Crane Operators who are interested in joining our growing team in Fort McMurray in Alberta.

The successful candidate will report to the Supervisor, Crane Operations and will satisfy the following criteria:

Responsibilities

  1. Assembling, setting up and rigging the crane properly with booms, extensions, and hook blocks
  2. Execute lifts from routine to highly complex and extra-heavy lifts
  3. Interpret load charts including understanding the correct meaning of all notes and warnings and being able to calculate or determine the crane's actual net capacity for every possible configuration of the machine
  4. Ensuring that the apprentice is in a safe place during operation
  5. Shutting down and securing the machine properly when it is unattended
  6. Complete and maintain accurate hours of service records, safety reports, and other work done on the crane while in the field
  7. Perform routine inspection and maintenance as required
  8. Uphold HSE regulations and be aware of any site conditions that could affect the crane operation
Qualifications

  1. Must be a member in good standing with the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 955
  2. Must have a local residence in Fort McMurray or must be willing to relocate to Fort McMurray (accommodation will not be provided)
  3. Red Seal Certification
  4. Class 1 Driver's License
  5. Experience with crane and heavy machinery operation
  6. Ability to interpret load charts
  7. Ability to travel
  8. Strong communication skills
  9. Ability to work well with others
  10. Dedicated work ethic
  11. First Aid Training /H2S alive / CSO
