Job Description
We’re currently recruiting on behalf of a client for an exciting opportunity: Mobile Apps Team Lead. This is a remote, full-time role where you’ll lead a mobile engineering team and take full technical ownership of both iOS and Android platforms. This is a high-impact, hands-on leadership position focused on driving mobile strategy, scaling app deployment, and modernizing infrastructure.

Responsibilities
- Lead the mobile apps team (2 engineers) and report directly to the CTO.
- Take full technical ownership of the iOS and Android codebases.
- Be a hands-on developer and architect; ship code regularly while setting engineering standards.
- Own the mobile team’s productivity, decision-making, and velocity.
- Evaluate and modernize infrastructure, tech stack, and release processes.
- Help steer current UX/UI overhaul and help guide a potential new version of the app (3.0).
- Solve current Google Play publishing challenges (e.g. app review blocks, account risks).
- Lead CI/CD efforts and ensure automation is optimized.
- Improve development workflow for managing and deploying thousands of white-label native apps.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align app functionality with the needs of gym owners (our primary users).
- Help with growing the mobile development team.
- Contribute to product thinking and roadmap planning while acting as a partner to the product team (especially during its build-out).
- Advocate for and implement AI-driven productivity enhancements in the dev workflow.
Tech Stack & Environment
- Native iOS:Legacy in Objective-C, newer work in Swift
- Native Android:Legacy in Java, newer development in Kotlin
- CI/CD: GitHub Actions.
- SDK Integrations: Stripe, Tap to Pay, HealthKit, Bluetooth integrations, access management tools, wearables.
- Internal CMS powers white-label customizations for hundreds of clients.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- 7+ years in mobile development with deep expertise in both iOS and Android.
- Experience leading mobile teams in SaaS or white-label product environments.
- Track record managing App Store and Google Play publishing at scale (especially Android bulk deployment).
- Strong communicator capable of working with execs, engineers, and non-technical stakeholders.
- Comfortable taking initiative, making strategic decisions, and driving change.
- Bonus: AI- and automation-minded; excited to explore emerging tools that improve productivity.
- Bonus: Experience bringing in additional talent to scale the team.
