Job summary

EXP is seeking an Electrical EIT / Engineering Trainee (Mining) in Sudbury, ON to learn from experienced engineers on diverse mining projects. You will gain hands-on experience in power distribution, mine infrastructure, instrumentation and control systems while pursuing your professional engineering designation.

You'll work with designers and project managers across a range of disciplines, participate in field investigations and support analyses to ensure safe, compliant project delivery across

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Registered or eligible for registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT).
• Interest in mining, metals, industrial facilities and infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with power systems and electrical equipment fundamentals.
• Exposure to design software like AutoCAD, MicroStation, ETAP, EasyPower or SKM.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team environment.
• Strong commitment to safety, quality and continuous learning.
• Previous co-op, internship or related industry experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and analysis of electrical systems for mining and industrial facilities.
• Support development of power distribution, motor control centers, substations and lighting systems.
• Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, specs and design packages.
• Contribute to single-line diagrams, equipment layouts and electrical schematics.
• Coordinate with mechanical, process, structural, civil and instrumentation teams.
• Participate in site visits, inspections, commissioning support and field investigations.
• Support engineering studies including load flow, short circuit, arc flash and protection coordination.
• Assist with project documentation, quality reviews and adherence to codes and standards.
• Contribute to project meetings and collaborate with clients, contractors and stakeholders.
