Job summary

The Mason Group - Strategic Search Partners in Toronto is seeking an Assistant Controller for an 18-month contract. The role is hybrid, with 2–3 days in the office and the remainder remote, supporting consolidated financial reporting under IFRS.

Responsibilities include reviewing journal entries, coordinating external reporting, and ensuring internal controls and timely close. Mining industry experience and strong Excel/ERP skills are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Mining experience is preferred.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Detail-oriented with ability to produce accurate working papers and reports.
• Advanced Excel skills required for complex data analysis.
• Experience with ERP systems, SAP in particular, is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Consolidate financial results for business units and ensure timely external reporting under IFRS.
• Review monthly consolidated trial balance and prepare audit support for reconciliations and eliminations.
• Analyze cash flows and monitor allocations to identify areas of concern.
• Maintain SAP Chart of Accounts and BI reporting structures; drive system enhancements.
• Coordinate with FP&A, Tax, and IR to communicate results and improve processes.
• Lead close processes and ensure SOX controls documentation and certification.
