Job summary

Discovery Mining Ltd. in Canada seeks a Corporate Controller to oversee day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, and the period close processes under IFRS.

The role acts as a key member of the finance leadership team and chairs accounting activities across the organization. The ideal candidate has a CPA designation, 10+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience, and strong IFRS knowledge.

Qualifications

• CPA designation required.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience, preferably within publicly traded mining, natural resources, or capital-intensive industries.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, financial statement preparation, and public company reporting requirements.
• Experience managing month-end and year-end close processes and consolidated financial reporting.
• Demonstrated experience coordinating and supporting external audit engagements.
• Strong understanding of internal controls, financial processes, and compliance requirements.
• Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting technologies (SAP S/4HANA, Workiva, OneStream is an asset).
• Ability to research, analyze, and document technical accounting matters.

Responsibilities

• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with accurate reporting.
• Prepare and review consolidated financial statements and supporting work products per IFRS.
• Coordinate internal management reporting packages, budgets, cash flow, forecasts, and KPIs.
• Support external reporting requirements quarterly and annually.
• Prepare analyses for non-routine transactions and complex accounting matters.
• Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Lead external audit activities and coordinate auditor requests.
• Oversee GL, AP, AR, fixed assets, and other core accounting functions.
• Ensure data accuracy from operating sites and business units.
• Monitor project accounting, cost tracking, and variance analysis.
• Oversee inventory accounting and depreciation processes.
• Support accounting for joint ventures, royalties, and contractual arrangements.
• Collaborate with operational, treasury, tax, and finance teams for accurate reporting.
