Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator in Hinton, AB. The successful candidate will operate a mini excavator to process materials at a landfill, maintain safe and productive operations, and handle basic equipment maintenance and paperwork.

Experience with front-end loaders, dozers, and compactors is an asset. Willingness to obtain required certifications and the ability to work independently are important, with prior landfill or waste-management exposure preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy equipment, preferably in a landfill setting.
• Primarily operating mini excavators on site.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform basic maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Operate mini excavator to process material in a landfill setting.
• Ensure operations are productive and safe.
• Perform minor equipment maintenance and document pre/post-trips, inspections, and incidents.
• Contribute to a healthy and safe working environment and follow company policies.
• Possess knowledge of equipment used to manage waste and cover materials.
