Job summary

Brunel is seeking a Landfill Operator in Cold Lake, Alberta to operate dozers, loaders and compactors, manage waste placement, and maintain site conditions in a 7 on/7 off, 12-hour shift rotation.

You will ensure safety, environmental compliance, and teamwork on site, with competitive hourly pay and benefits including health and dental, vacation pay, sick days, statutory holiday pay and ongoing training opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment including dozers, loaders, and compactors.
• Manage waste placement and landfill working areas.
• Maintain haul roads, working faces, and overall site conditions.
• Support truck drivers, customers, and contractors on site.
• Conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance requirements.
• Track waste volumes and complete operational documentation.
• Issue Safe Work Permits and support safe work activities.
• Follow environmental approvals, operating procedures, and safety standards.
• Participate in inspections, audits, and safety meetings.
• Identify hazards and take corrective action when required.
• Assist with reporting, ticketing, and administrative duties.

About the Role

We are seeking a Landfill Operator to join our growing team in Cold Lake, Alberta. This position is ideal for an experienced heavy equipment operator who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in maintaining safe work practices, and thrives in an outdoor industrial environment. While landfill experience is considered an asset, we're also interested in operators from construction, oilfield, mining, civil earthworks, or other industrial backgrounds who are looking to expand their skills.

Key responsibilities include:

• Operating heavy equipment including dozers, loaders, and compactors

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

• Previous heavy equipment operating experience
• Experience operating dozers, loaders, compactors, or similar equipment
• Strong commitment to safety and environmental compliance
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

• Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) landfill experience
• Oilfield, construction, mining, or industrial operations experience
• Experience working in regulated work environments

Schedule
