Job summary

The Miner Trainer role focuses on developing, delivering, and maintaining mine procedures, equipment training, and safe work practices. The position shares accountability for ensuring training is applied in the field and understood by crews, with coaching to address gaps and non-conformance.

Responsibilities include ownership of training programs, field and underground instruction, coaching for why procedures are followed, and escalation of non-compliance when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain mine-related training programs, including procedures, equipment operation, and task-based training.
• Deliver classroom, field, and underground training for new hires, role changes, and refresher requirements.
• Provide hands-on coaching to ensure miners understand not just what to do, but why it is done that way.
• Hold shared accountability for compliance to training requirements, mine procedures, and safety expectations.
• Verify that training provided is being applied correctly in the field through observation and follow-up.
• Identify training gaps, unclear procedures, or equipment familiarity issues and address through coaching, retraining, or clarification.
• Escalate repeated or serious non-compliance to supervisors and management when training intervention is not sufficient.
• Act as the training owner for mine procedures and standard work, and review procedures to ensure practicality and currency.
• Lead equipment-specific training and competency verification for underground mining equipment, and assess operator readiness.
• Reinforce site safety expectations during all training activities and field interactions, and intervene to correct unsafe practices.
• Maintain training records, competency sign-offs, and documentation for audits and inspections.
• Identify opportunities to improve mine efficiency and work sequencing through day-to-day observations and feedback to planning and technical teams.
