Job summary

The Mine Technician role focuses on installing and maintaining underground survey control, producing survey drawings, and supporting engineering and operations to advance mining projects.

You will work with modern tools like robotic total stations and point-cloud scanners. Ideal candidates have a Mining Engineering Technology Diploma or equivalent and 1–5 years in surveying.

Qualifications

• Mining Engineering Technology Diploma or equivalent or greater.
• 1-5 years experience in a surveying or technician role.
• Comfortable navigating Microsoft Office Suite (SharePoint, Word & Excel).
• Ability to work independently and self-motivated to drive positive improvement.
• Experience with computer drafting programs Deswik, MicroStation, AutoCAD.
• Underground mining experience would be an asset.
• Experience with robotic total station and point-cloud scanning instruments would be an asset.

Responsibilities

• Professionally carry out duties following Nutrien safety principles and priorities.
• Support all aspects of site safety systems.
• Work closely with the Mine Engineering and Mine Operations to provide support to site efficiently.
• Install survey control stations underground per mining layouts for mining advancement direction.
• Provide survey control for underground construction projects.
• Maintain accuracy of survey control networks.
• Create mine survey drawings showing survey station locations and mining designs.
• Monitor heat, dust, and air quality levels in the mine as required.
• Install, maintain, and record data from underground rock mechanics/ventilation instrumentation as directed by the Mine Engineer.
• Scan and analyze point-cloud data of underground workings.
• Provide Mine Technician specific training to new hires.
• Maintain, repair, and procure survey instrumentation, tools, and materials.
