Responsibilities

  • Develop, design, and deliver training programs for employees.
  • Evaluate and improve existing departmental training programs.
  • Provide hands-on training for operating equipment safely.
  • Maintain training records for all employees.
  • Participate in training needs analysis and update materials.
  • Deliver training to hourly and staff employees in classroom and on‑the‑job settings.
  • Provide hands-on training for new employees on mine equipment.
  • Instruct and enforce safe methods and procedures for work.
  • Utilize SuccessFactors/myHR to access and manage training material and records.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally to ensure effective training and safe operation.

The Mine Practical Trainer (Temp) reports to the Mine Training Coordinator.

What You'll Do
  • Develop, design, and deliver training programs
  • Evaluate departmental training programs, gathering data pertaining to training material and offer recommendations
  • Coordinate training with departments Monitor employee performance and training results
  • Maintain appropriate training records for all employees
  • In consultation with the Training Department and Mine Department, participate in training needs analysis by staying current with changes in regulations, process changes, design modifications, etc. and integrate into existing training material/processes
  • Assist in the continuous improvement of training programs
  • Deliver training to both hourly and staff employees, including classroom settings and on-the-job practical training settings
  • Provide hands‑on training for new employees so they can perform various job functions safely, such as operating various types of mobile and other equipment
  • Instruct operator proficiency in pre-checks, inspections, operating functions and operating maintenance, safe operating techniques, and practical skills on mine equipment and surface as needed
  • Instruct and enforce safe methods and procedures for performing work
  • Monitor and evaluate employee performance and training results; monitor the performance of new probationary employees and provide feedback to supervision and administration
  • Utilize computer training programs (i.e. SuccessFactors/myHR) to access, maintain, and administer training material and employee training records
  • Develop relationships through collaborative interactions to ensure effective training, safe operation, and efficient utilization of resources
  • Contribute to department and site results by understanding and demonstrating your role within the team
What You'll Bring
  • Grade 12 education or GED, with a technical or operating background
  • Must possess a good knowledge of mine operation and maintenance techniques, as well as experience in the operation of mobile equipment
  • Ability to demonstrate positive safety behaviours and safety guidance through working safely and effectively in a team setting, as well as self-guided
  • Excellent computer skills are required, including the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SuccessFactors
  • Ability to maintain appropriate training records for all employee training history
  • Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills are essential Knowledge of OH&S regulations as well as mine regulations
  • An approachable manner that encourages employees and supervisors to seek you out as a subject matter expert
  • Willingness to learn and gain adequate knowledge and experience through training
  • Willingness to adjust schedule and plans to meet training asks and achieve results
  • Previous Supervisor experience is considered an asset
