Job summary

Impala Canada is seeking a mine survey technician for the Lac des Iles operation. The role involves underground surveys, layout design, and equipment maintenance at a major palladium mine located northwest of Thunder Bay.

The successful candidate will have a diploma or equivalent, at least two years of mine survey experience, and strong data analysis and software skills. Office-based tasks and field responsibilities require independence and reliability.

Qualifications

• Engineering Technician diploma or equivalent from a recognized institution.
• Two years mine survey experience.
• Proficient with technical computer programs, technical writing, experienced in all office based software, and a strong ability to conduct data analysis.
• High attention to detail, effective organizational skills, ability to prioritise and attentive to time management.
• Ability to work independent, self motivated, dependable, responsible and flexiable

Responsibilities

• Conduct underground surveys including wall bars, controls, and CMS systems.
• Design and provide survey layouts.
• Maintain survey equipment and supplies.
• Coordinate survey tasks for the mine.
• Compile meters of advance and excavation volumes for reporting.
• Install grade plugs and update development prints.
• Provide ventilation support.
• Collect geotechnical data as required.
• Assist with line setup and checks for DDH.
• Communicate design discrepancies to supervisor and operations.
• Perform additional duties as needed.

Job Description:

• Responsible for conducting underground surveys including installation of wall bars and survey controls, mark up of underground development and production lines, and underground CMS/borehole CMS
• Design and provide survey layouts
• Maintain survey equipment and survey supplies
• Coordinate survey tasks for the entire mine
• Complie meters of advance and excavation volumes for crew end and month end summaries
• Install grade plugs,issue updated prints of development headngs after each pickup and grade plug installation
• Provide ventilation support
• Collect geotechnical data as required
• Insall line for DDH and checks DDH set ups for line and grade
• Communicate design discrepancies to supervisor and operations
• Miscellaneous duties reasonabl and benefical as the department requires

Must Have:

• Engineering Technician diploma or equivalent from a recongnized institution
• Two years mine survey experience
• Proficient with technical computer programs, technical writing, experienced in all office based software, and a strong ability to conduct data analysis .
• High attention to detail, effective organizational skills, ability to prioritze and attentive to time management
• Ability to work independent, self motivated, dependable, responsible and flexiable
