Job summary

Impala Canada is seeking a seasoned maintenance supervisor to lead fixed plant crews at Lac des Iles Mine on a fourteen (14) day on / fourteen (14) day off rotation. You will ensure safe, productive execution of maintenance activities aligned with mine objectives and production goals.

The ideal candidate has a High School diploma or equivalent, a Certified Interprovincial Millwright Certificate or appropriate engineering diploma, and 7+ years with industrial stationary equipment, with at least 2

Job description

Impala Canada is the owner and operator of the Lac des Iles Mine, located 90 minutes northwest of Thunder Bay, Ontario. In operation for 30+ years, the LDI Mine is one of only two known pure palladium sources in North America. Palladium contributes to a cleaner global environment, with its leading use being in catalytic converters that reduce harmful emissions from gas-powered and hybrid vehicles.
The LDI Mine features a unique ore body and modern infrastructure, including underground and surface mining and milling operations. Job Description:

Working a fourteen (14) day on fourteen (14) day off rotation at the mine site, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading and directing the Fixed Plant Maintenance Crews, while ensuring they work in a safe and productive manner at Lac des Iles Mine.
Major areas of responsibility include the application of maintenance practices in alignment with Lac des Iles Mine business objectives, maintenance strategy and production goals, during the daily execution of maintenance activities on Fixed Plant equipment. This position participates actively to implement and execute maintenance plans in a rapidly changing mining environment. This position facilitates the safety of staff, the environment, while communicating on a regular basis about equipment performance including availability, reliability, repeated problems, and cost. This position works closely with the Planner and other Supervisors using a team approach to solve problems.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate must possess a High School diploma or equivalent; Certified Interprovincial Millwright Certificate, or Mechanical Technologist / Mechanical Engineering / Mining Engineering Diploma; minimum 7 years’ experience with industrial stationary equipment, preferably in mining; and at least 2 years’ experience in Maintenance or Operations in a supervisory role. In addition the successful candidate possess good computer skills including Microsoft Office; possess an aptitude for quickly learning and adapting to new computer programs; possess superior interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with others; and possess effective coaching, mentoring delegating, and communication skills as well as a valid driver’s license.
