Job summary

Hecla Mining Company’s Keno Hill operation in Yukon is seeking a Mine Rescue and Emergency Preparedness Coordinator to lead the emergency response program and training across underground, mill, surface, and camp risks.

This remote fly-in/fly-out role offers a 14 on/14 off rotation with camp accommodations and meals provided on site, plus a comprehensive benefits package and ongoing incident management training opportunities.

Qualifications

• 5+ years underground mining experience
• 2+ years as a mine rescue instructor
• 5+ years as a mine rescue team member
• Certification to instruct Standard First Aid and CPR C and First Responder
• Emergency response experience in an industrial setting
• Knowledge of health and safety management systems and OHS legislation
• Strong communication skills with diverse groups
• Advanced MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Responsibilities

• Provide strong safety leadership and champion the emergency response program at Keno Hill.
• Manage training, equipment, and records for the Mine Rescue Team.
• Instruct Mine Rescue Basic Training and Incident Management Team Training.
• Act as Mine Rescue Coordinator in emergencies and mentor others.
• Develop, implement, and manage all emergency procedures for underground, mill, surface and camp risks.
• Develop training modules and train site employees and contractors on emergency response.
• Develop and maintain Incident Management Team Procedures and Training.
• Lead drills and risk assessments to improve emergency response.
• Inspect and maintain emergency response equipment and tools.
• Ensure regulatory requirements for emergency response are met.
• Participate in toolbox talks and safety meetings; support HSE team.
• Foster environmental culture and strong safety practices.
