Suncor is seeking a Mine Planning Engineer in Training to shape short-range mine plans driving safe, efficient operations on site at Fort Hills, Fort McMurray, AB.

You will design and schedule mine activities, coordinate tailings planning, and prepare regulatory reports while collaborating with cross-functional teams. A proactive team player with CAD/Scheduling and Excel skills is essential.

Formación

• Two to four years of on-site mine engineering/operations experience.
• Bachelor's Degree in Mine Engineering or equivalent.
• Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with APEGA or eligible to apply.
• Understanding of Mine Geoscience and Regulatory requirements.
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to build key relationships with cross-functional, internal and external stakeholders.
• Must be proactive and a team player.
• Proficiency in Mine Planning software suites (CAD & Scheduling), Microsoft Office Suites (Excel, Access, Power BI) and coding Languages (VBA, Python, Etc).

Responsabilidades

• Plan short-range mine design and scheduling across 0–2 year horizon.
• Develop highwalls, benches, structures, and mine layouts.
• Schedule mining activities and balance material flows.
• Plan tailings and reclamation activities.
• Prepare regulatory reports (D82, D81, etc.).
• Support stewardship and continuous improvement initiatives.

Minimum Requirements:

• Two to four years of on-site mine engineering/operations experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mine Engineering or equivalent

Responsibilities:

• Planning horizon will encompass 0 to 2 years, and will require the need to understand how Business Plan goals translate through to the Forecast, and 12- and 2-Week detailed execution plans
• Successful candidate will be able to perform following tasks across the short-range planning horizon:
• Mine design (highwalls, benches, structures)Mine planning (reclamation salvage & placement, drainage, roads, infrastructure)
• Mine scheduling and material balancing
• Tailings planning
• Regulatory reporting (D82, D81, etc.)
• Stewardship and continuous improvement support

Location and Other Key Details:

• You will work out of Suncor’s Fort Hills site in Fort McMurray, AB.
• This role will be site based on a 7 by 7 or a 4 by 3 shift
• Our engineering roles follow internal compensation guidelines, and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work
