Job description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Perform all duties as outlined by the Provincial Government in accordance with Regulated Trade 433A Industrial Mechanic Millwright.
2. Possess all hand tools common to the trade.
3. Perform preventive maintenance on welders, fixtures, and other equipment.
4. Read, interpret, and use micrometers, verniers, etc.
5. Operate machine tools such as lathes, mills, grinders, and drills.
6. Maintain knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.
7. Line up shafts, couplings, motors, and drivers.
8. Scrape and bed bearings, slides, and gibs.
9. Diagnose and remedy breakdowns.
10. Evaluate press performance for issues like hitting too hard or off-loading.
11. Troubleshoot lubrication systems and ensure proper lubrication.
12. Remove broken equipment parts and repair by welding or complete refit.
13. Assess wear points and determine slop related to bearings and joints.
14. Complete overhauls and major repairs of machinery.
15. Have working knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic logic controls.
16. Safely handle heavy equipment, including slinging and dismantling.
17. Understand lifting capacities and safety of lifting gear.
18. Level and install heavy equipment with precision.
19. Follow detailed instructions, blueprints, and sketches for installation and setup.
20. Dismantle and match mark parts for reassembly.
21. Perform welding and brazing as needed.
22. Accurately layout floors for equipment installation.
23. Work independently and guide apprentices and helpers.
24. Comply with Safety Act and regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Valid Ontario Certificate of Qualification as a 433A Industrial Mechanic Millwright or equivalent experience.
2. Certified Lift Truck Driver.
3. Health and Safety training.
