Job description

West Fraser’s Alberta Plywood in Edmonton, Alberta, has an opportunity for a:

MILLWRIGHT

The Millwright will play a key role in our continuous maintenance improvement program through troubleshooting and preventative maintenance strategies.

Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain pumps, conveyors, compressors, mechanical systems, rollers & chains, bearings, and hydraulics involved in manufacturing.
  2. Manage costs associated with maintenance activities.
  3. Supervise contractors.
  4. Utilize Maximo and CMMS programs.
  5. Learn PDM programs and undergo reliability training.
  6. Implement preventative maintenance for equipment.
  7. Read blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings for equipment repair.
  8. Operate hoisting and lifting devices during assembly, installation, setup, and repair of machinery.
  9. Work in man-lifts using fall protection equipment.
  10. Repair and assemble hydraulic equipment and cylinders.
  11. Verify and document repairs.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

  • Valid Inter-Provincial or Provincial Journeyperson Millwright certification.
  • Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with other trades and employees.
  • Commitment to safety and creating a safe workplace.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexible schedule for days, nights, weekends, and statutory holidays.
