Job summary

Bailey Metal Products Ltd., a Saint-Gobain company, is hiring a Millwright Apprentice for our Concord, Ontario location. This role reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and provides hands-on training to develop into a licensed Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) (433A).

You will support the maintenance team in repair, installation, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance of production equipment, with mentorship from experienced Millwrights and Maintenance Technicians.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in, or eligible to register for, the Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) 433A Apprenticeship Program.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical systems and maintenance principles.
  • Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, grinders, cutting torches, and welding equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and team-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to follow instructions and take initiative.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with preventative maintenance activities on production equipment and machinery.
  • Support the troubleshooting, repair, and installation of mechanical equipment under the guidance of experienced maintenance personnel.
  • Learn to diagnose equipment issues and help minimize unplanned downtime.
  • Assist with equipment inspections and identify potential maintenance concerns.
  • Safely use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other maintenance-related equipment.
  • Read and interpret basic mechanical drawings, manuals, and work instructions.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and communicate observations to the maintenance team.
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
  • Work collaboratively with maintenance technicians, machine operators, and production personnel.
  • Participate in apprenticeship training and actively develop technical skills.
  • Support special projects and perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Millwright Apprentice will support the maintenance team in the repair, installation, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance of production equipment. This role provides hands-on training and mentorship from experienced Millwrights and Maintenance Technicians, offering an excellent opportunity to develop the skills required to become a licensed Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) (433A).

The successful candidate will work closely with maintenance personnel to ensure equipment reliability, maintain a safe work environment, and contribute to the efficient operation of the plant.

Preferred Qualifications (Assets)

  • Previous manufacturing or industrial maintenance experience.
  • Basic welding and fabrication skills, exposure to hydraulic and pneumatic systems and basic electrical troubleshooting knowledge.
  • Experience with manual machining equipment.
  • Forklift certification and/or overhead crane experience.

Working Conditions

  • Fast-paced environment.
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and performing tasks requiring standing, bending, climbing, and repetitive movements.
  • Overtime and weekend work where required.
  • Able to work shift work on a rotating basis.
