Job summary

Westlake Chemical is seeking a skilled millwright to join our maintenance team in Vaughan, Canada. The role focuses on maintenance, troubleshooting, fabrication, and installation of mechanical equipment, with 12-hour rotating continental shifts and shift premium.

The candidate will read drawings and schematics, operate hand and power tools, and perform preventive maintenance on conveyors, pumps, compressors, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems. Minimum 7 years’ experience required.

Qualifications

• Must hold an industrial mechanic/millwright certificate and have strong reading of prints and schematics.
• Minimum 7 years’ experience in a manufacturing maintenance role.
• Proficient with calipers and measuring devices; able to operate safely at heights.
• Experience reading mechanical drawings, blueprints and schematics.
• Proficient with MS Office; able to document maintenance activities.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot mechanical problems and perform maintenance and repairs on conveyors, pumps and compressors.
• Interpret mechanical schematics and drawings to install or modify equipment.
• Perform welding, soldering, and fabricate components as required.
• Install and maintain fans, blowers, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Maintain pipe systems, valves and instrumentation; calibrate devices as needed.
• Conduct preventive maintenance and maintain maintenance records.
• Operate scissor lifts and Genie booms as needed; ensure safety compliance.
• Collaborate with team and follow safety/environmental regulations.

We work together to enhance peoples' lives through our products and presence in the communities in which we operate.SUMMARYReporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the millwright will be responsible to participate in a team environment and undertake the tasks associated with maintenance, troubleshooting, fabricating and the installation of mechanical equipment.MUST BE ABLE TO WORK 12 HOUR ROTATING CONTINENTAL SHIFTS******Shift Premium & Additional Incentives offered******Rate of pay: $48.60/hrDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESMay include, but are not limited to, the following:Troubleshoot mechanical problems as required.Interpret all mechanical schematics.Properly uses all hand and power tools and precision measuring equipment.Maintain conveyor system, all compressors and pumps.Perform welding and soldering operations.Install and maintain all fans, blowers, pneumatic systems.Install and maintain pipe systems and valves.Ensure that all shop equipment is kept clean and in safe working order.“Call in” duty as per schedule.General Maintenance.Read and interpret drawings, blue prints, schematics to determine layout of industrial equipment installations.Install, examine replace or repair feeders, fibre-optic and coaxial cable assemblies.Maintain, repair, test and install hydraulic and pneumatic control systems.Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records.May install, maintain and calibrate industrial instrumentation and related devices.Maintain safety and environmental regulations and plant operability as top priorities as maintenance duties take place.EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONSMust hold a valid industrial mechanic/millwright certificate.Minimum of 7 years’ experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.Knowledge of calipers and other measuring devices.Must have knowledge of computer skills using MS Office products.Ability to read prints.Ability to work safely at heights is required.Experience operating scissor lifts and Genie booms is considered an asset.Must be able to work Continental ShiftWestlake is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
