Job summary

Westlake Royal Building Products seeks an experienced maintenance technician to join our team in Vaughan. You will perform electrical and mechanical maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and interpret schematics to ensure uptime of conveyors, pumps, motors and control systems.

The role requires a 12-hour Continental shift, with shift premiums and incentives offered. A strong background in industrial mechanics and electrical codes is essential for success.

Qualifications

  • Valid industrial mechanic/millwright 433A certificate.
  • Electrical certificate 422A in good standing.
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read prints and interpret schematics.
  • Proven ability to work a 12-hour Continental Shift.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems.
  • DC drives inspection and maintenance.
  • Interpret schematics and drawings.
  • Use hand and power tools and precision measuring equipment.
  • Maintain conveyors, compressors and pumps.
  • Perform welding and soldering operations.
  • Install and maintain electrical controls and pneumatic systems.
  • Read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Ensure equipment is safe and clean; follow safety protocols.
  • May install/calibrate instrumentation and perform preventive maintenance.

Summary

Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, this individual will be responsible to participate in a team environment and undertake all tasks associated with Electrical and Mechanical Maintenance.

MUST BE ABLE TO WORK 12 HOUR ROTATING CONTINENTAL SHIFTS

Rate of pay: $50.29/hr with additional $2.00 premium for Dual Certification
Duties And Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems as required.
  • DC drives inspection and maintenance.
  • Interpret all mechanical and electrical schematics.
  • Properly uses all hand and power tools and precision measuring equipment.
  • Maintain conveyor system, all compressors and pumps.
  • Perform welding and soldering operations.
  • Install and maintain all fans, blowers, electric and electronic controls and pneumatic systems.
  • Install and maintain pipe systems and valves.
  • Ensure that all shop equipment is kept clean and in safe working order.
  • “Call in” duty as per schedule.
  • General Maintenance.
  • Install, maintain, test, troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment and associated electrical and electronic controls.
  • Read and interpret drawings, blue prints, schematics and electrical code specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations.
  • Install, examine replace or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fibre-optic and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components for continuity, current, voltage resistance.
  • Maintain, repair, test and install electrical motors, generators, alternators, industrial storage batteries and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systems.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain and repair industrial, electrical and electronic control systems and other related devices.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records.
  • May install, maintain and calibrate industrial instrumentation and related devices.
  • Maintain safety and environmental regulations and plant operability as top priorities as maintenance duties take place.
Education, Experience And Qualification
  • Must hold a valid industrial mechanic/millwright 433A/electrical certificate 422A.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of calipers and other measuring devices.
  • Must have knowledge of computer skills using MS Office products.
  • Ability to read prints.
  • Must be able to work a 12-hour Continental Shift.
