Job summary

DBG Canada Limited in Mississauga seeks a skilled Millwright to troubleshoot, repair mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment, and perform preventive maintenance. You will maintain critical spare parts and work with contractors as needed.

The role requires reading schematics, using micrometers, and operating lathes, mills and grinders to fabricate parts. A valid Ontario 433a Millwright license and 2 years in stamping/welding environments are essential.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a valid Ontario License Certificate of Qualification 433a Industrial Millwright.
  • Post secondary diploma and experience in technical areas; CET or Professional Engineering designation will be considered in lieu of C of Q.

  • Provide maintenance on an ongoing basis under supervision and communicate relevant matters pertaining to operations.
  • Operate and repair presses, welders, and automated equipment; coordinate with contractors for spare parts as needed.
  • Read, interpret, and understand mechanical, electrical and pneumatic schematic diagrams.
  • Read, interpret and use micrometers, verniers, etc.; fabricate basic machine parts as required.
  • Perform overhauls and major repairs to plant machinery and equipment; ensure safety and quality standards.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY:

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Millwright is responsible for troubleshooting and repairing problems with any mechanical, pneumatic or hydraulic equipment in the Mississauga plant of DBG Canada Limited. The responsibilities also include preventive maintenance and maintaining critical spare parts for routine repairs.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Reporting directly to the Maintenance manager and being provided direction by the Team Lead, provide Maintenance on an ongoing basis and communicates all relevant matters pertaining to operations.
  • Possess all hand tools that are common to the trade.
  • Operates and understands the basic principles of operation and repair of presses, welders, and automated equipment and related materials used. Able to troubleshoot equipment and establish actions for repairs including creating a spare parts list and co-ordination with contractors as required.
  • Reads, interprets, and understands mechanical, electrical and pneumatic schematic diagrams.
  • Able to read, interpret and use micrometers, verniers, etc.
  • Able to operate power tools and machine tools like lathes, mills, grinder drills, etc. Fabricates basic machine parts, as required.
  • Have working knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Performs and has proper understanding of welding process (i.e., arc welding, TIG welding, plasma cutter/welding, oxy-acetylene welding and brazing, and soldering process).
  • Able to complete overhauls and major repairs to all plant machinery and equipment.
  • Experience with rigging, unloading and/or dismantling heavy pieces of equipment in an efficient and safe manner (both to other works and equipment).
  • Capable of dismantling, identifying all component parts and re-assembling.
  • Performs and records all preventative maintenance functions, both manual and computer base operations.
  • Provides suggestions and technical support to manufacturing stakeholders on an as needed basis.
  • Ensures the health, safety, cleanliness, and security of the work environment. Adheres to safety procedures and makes proper use of all safety equipment when required.
  • Ensures compliance with all product safety, legality and quality requirements including QMS, EMS and H&S standards, Policies, Objectives, Impact & Aspect and Hazard and Risks.
  • Understands and complies with all company policies and procedures.
  • Participates in special projects, other duties or tasks that may be assigned as required.
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
  • Must hold a valid Ontario License Certificate of Qualification 433a Industrial Millwright.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • 2 Years experience in a Stamping and Welding manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of process flow and optimization, manufacturing engineering and CMMS experience an asset.
