Job description

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities:
  1. Diagnoses, troubleshoots, maintains, and repairs/rebuilds plant production equipment and machinery as well as facility systems.
  2. Maintains optimum operating efficiency with minimum down time.
  3. Maintains ongoing preventative maintenance programs complete with documentation.
  4. Identifies and implements plant improvements and improves cost effectiveness. Attends to machinery breakdowns and production stoppages.
  5. Operates machine shop equipment (lathe, mill, grinder, etc.).
  6. Participates in and contributes to the continuous improvement process.
  7. Adheres to all workplace safety policies, compliances, and regulations.
  8. Performs other duties as required.
Nature and Scope:
  1. Selects correct processes from clearly prescribed rules, past practices, or instruction. Seeks advice and guidance on non-routine or problem areas from supervisor. Deviations from the norm are cleared by the supervisor.
  2. Under close supervision, exercises limited latitude/independent judgment. Work typically involves detailed checks or close review of output by a senior coworker and/or supervisor.
  3. None.
Work Environment:
  1. Typically located in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors that may cause noticeable discomfort or a moderate risk of accident or illness, such as temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noises, and fumes.
  2. Requires intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting, and maneuvering material or equipment that may be heavy (50+ pounds) or awkward.
  3. No travel required.
Education and Experience:

HS Diploma or GED strongly preferred. 0-2 years of experience in area of responsibility.

Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Millwright License 433A Red Seal with a minimum of ten years related industrial experience and proven success in process improvement, maximizing equipment efficiencies and run time.
  2. Capable of servicing new equipment and rebuilding/servicing old equipment.
  3. Working at heights training certification, forklift license, scissor lift experience/certification.
  4. Ability to read blueprints and layout drawings.
  5. Experience in welding.
  6. Working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act.
