The Role:
The Millwright plays a vital role in supporting production uptime by ensuring the optimal functioning of equipment and facilities. Responsibilities include installing, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting industrial machinery while executing our preventive maintenance programs to reduce downtime. This role requires strong technical expertise, advanced troubleshooting skills, and a deep understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
The ideal candidate thrives in an industrial maintenance setting, working both independently and collaboratively, with a commitment to ensuring safe and efficient operations. Superior problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to equipment reliability are key to success in this position.
What You Will Do:
Installation and Setup: Assemble, install, align, and secure machinery and mechanical components such as conveyor systems, pumps, motors, presses, and hydraulic systems.
Maintenance and Repairs:
Perform preventive maintenance programs to reduce machinery downtime.
Inspect equipment for wear, defects, and proper operation, replacing or repairing parts as needed.
Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, identifying root causes and implementing solutions.
Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery.
Continuous Improvement : Engage in continuous improvement projects as required to improve machine performance.
Equipment Adjustments: Adjust and calibrate machinery to ensure it meets operational specifications and production requirements using a variety of skills; mechanical, vacuum, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic.
Safety and Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and ensure machinery complies with health, safety, and environmental regulations. Conduct safety checks on equipment and maintain records of inspections and repairs. This is your highest priority. Ensuring your working area is clean, as well as not leaving tools or supplies in other workstations once work is complete.
Documentation: Input accurate data into CMMS, closing work orders relating to maintenance and repair activities. Read and interpret technical manuals, drawings, and schematics as needed.
Qualifications :
Education:
Interprovincial Red Seal Millwright certification from an approved educational facility with
5+ years of relevant experience in an industrial setting.
Experience: A solid foundation with mechanical and electrical experience is an asset. 2-5 Years of work experience in a maintenancerole.
Oral communication, friendly outgoing personality, ability to work with others, good time management skills , strong decision-making, problem-solving, troubleshooting, multi-tasking skills, and attention to detail.
Operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance, or set-up of machinery.
Able to understand hydraulics or pneumatic schematics and other technical documents.
Previous experience with electrical and automatic guided vehicle is an asset.
Ability to work independently and within a team environment, self-starter and self-motivated, capable of working autonomously with minimum supervision and guidance.
Must be flexible to work late hours, overtime, and weekends when required.
Must be able to lift/push/pull/carry up to 50 lbs.
Proven safety and attendance record.
Consistently strive for personal and operational improvement including the ability to upgrade required skills and competencies.
Organized in approach to work assignments, practices effective time management, and prioritizes tasks.
