Job summary

Wesdome Gold Mines Ltd. in Canada seeks a Mill Operations Supervisor to lead day-to-day milling activities across crushing, grinding, gravity recovery, cyanidation and refinery support. You will supervise operators, uphold safety standards and drive production and recovery targets.

You bring 5+ years in mineral processing with leadership experience, plus strong analytical and problem-solving skills. This role offers a permanent, full-time schedule on site with a comprehensive compensation

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day activities of gold milling operations, including ore processing, milling, leaching and recovery processes; ensure SOPs.
• Supervise, train and mentor mill operators and technicians; lead troubleshooting and optimization.
• Enforce safety protocols; conduct safety meetings; ensure staff training on safety standards and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor production parameters such as throughput, recovery rates and ore grade; report deviations.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements to increase throughput and reduce costs.
• Oversee inventory of chemicals, consumables and spare parts; ensure proper stocking.
• Monitor product quality and work with senior metallurgists to optimize gold recovery.
• Ensure operators stay up-to-date on equipment and safety practices.

The Eagle River Mine site has a tight-knit team where everyone knows each other and there is a strong sense of camaraderie and mutual support. It is a hands-on, fast paced environment where work feels impactful and you can see the results of your contributions quickly. There are many long-tenured employees and a lot of site pride.

The mine is located a short drive from Wawa, deep in the forest where it is scenic and quiet. It is a real 'boots on the ground' setting. Team members reside in a camp environment and typically work on rotations, depending on the position. The camp offers excellent food, a sauna/gym, recreational room and the opportunity to stay connected with family and friends.

About the Opportunity

The Mill Operations Supervisor’s responsibility is to manage their respective day or night shift crews. This includes the following areas: Crushing Operations, Grinding Operations, Gravity Recovery Operations, Solution Operations (Cyanidation & Merrill Crowe), Filtered Stack Tailings, Equipment Operations, Reagent Circuits, and Refinery.

You are an experienced mineral processing professional and a confident leader who takes pride in creating a safe, productive, and collaborative work environment. You bring strong knowledge of mill operations and is comfortable making decisions, troubleshooting operational challenges, and supporting your team to work safely, responsibly and achieve production and recovery targets.

Position Responsibilities, Accountabilities and Job Duties

• Oversee the day-to-day activities of the gold milling operations, including ore processing, milling, leaching, and recovery processes. Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Supervise, train, and mentor mill operators and technicians to ensure high performance and adherence to safety standards. Provide leadership in troubleshooting and optimizing operational issues.
• Ensure a safe working environment by enforcing safety protocols, conducting regular safety meetings, and ensuring all staff are properly trained on safety standards. Comply with environmental and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor key production parameters such as throughput, recovery rates, and ore grade to ensure that targets are met. Analyze plant data and report any deviations or inefficiencies.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements to increase throughput, reduce costs, decrease safety and environmental risks, and improve recovery rates. Participate in troubleshooting and process optimization tasks.
• Oversee the inventory of chemicals, consumables, and spare parts used in mill operations. Ensure the efficient use of resources and that supplies are adequately stocked.
• Monitor product quality to ensure it meets specifications. Work closely with the Operations General Foreman and Senior Metallurgists to optimize gold recovery.
• Work to ensure that operators and technicians have up-to-date knowledge of equipment, safety procedures, and industry best practices.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of 5 years progressive mineral processing experience and 2 years of crew leader responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong background in process plant operations.
• Excellent organizational, decision-making, leadership, supervisory, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Self-motivated, team player with good interpersonal skills.
• High School Diploma

Working Conditions / Schedule

Shift / Hours of Work: 12-hours

Schedule / Rotation: 14 days on, 14 days off

Type of Hire: Permanent, Full-Time
