Job summary

Parrish & Heimbecker, Limited is seeking a Mill Manager for Springbrook, AB to lead all milling operations, ensure product quality, and drive safety programs across a multi‑shift operation.

You will oversee staff, coordinate with maintenance and planning, and implement SOPs to meet production targets while upholding food safety and regulatory standards. A senior milling background and strong leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Secondary education with a degree or diploma in flour milling technology or equivalent training.
• Minimum 10 years in food/beverage processing or manufacturing.
• Minimum 5 years supervisory experience in milling or similar.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Experience in a represented, multi‑shift operation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead milling operations to achieve production, extraction, quality, and efficiency targets.
• Provide operational leadership to milling team and cross‑functional support.
• Drive continuous improvement for productivity, safety, and process performance.
• Monitor mill performance and troubleshoot issues; implement adjustments.
• Collaborate with Planning and Maintenance to meet demand and optimize downtime.
• Develop and maintain SOPs, regulatory docs, and records.
• Ensure compliance with health, food safety, sanitation, and quality standards (BRCGS).
• Maintain safe, clean, organized work environment; coach and develop staff.
• Partner with Maintenance for preventive maintenance and equipment reliability.
• Oversee inventory control and supply management for uninterrupted operations.

Your Team

P&H Milling: P&H Milling is Canada’s largest Canadian‑owned milling company, producing high‑quality flour and cereal products for bakeries, food manufacturers, and consumers. From coast to coast, we transform Canadian wheat into trusted products that feed families at home and abroad.

We are seeking a Mill Manager to join our P&H Milling team. This role will be responsible for ensuring efficient, productive, and effective operations of all milling units to produce consistent products that conforms quality standards at optimum level of flour extraction while promoting and enforcing food safety and health and safety program to the workforce at the highest degree. This position is also responsible for managing other areas of the milling department such as grain receiving section and other milling related operations. This position reports to the Operations Manager.

Day to Day

• Lead and oversee all milling operations to achieve production, extraction, quality, and efficiency targets.
• Provide operational and technical leadership to the milling team while supporting cross‑functional departments.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, process performance, food safety, and workplace safety.
• Monitor mill performance, troubleshoot operational issues, and implement process and grist adjustments as required.
• Collaborate with Production Planning and Maintenance to meet customer demand and optimize scheduled downtime activities.
• Develop, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), regulatory documentation, and operational records.
• Ensure compliance with all health and safety, food safety, sanitation, and quality standards, including BRCGS requirements.
• Foster a safe, clean, and organized work environment through effective housekeeping and sanitation practices.
• Lead employee performance management, coaching, training, development, and succession planning in accordance with company policies.
• Partner with Maintenance to support preventive maintenance programs and maximize equipment reliability.
• Oversee inventory control, materials requisitions, and supply management to support uninterrupted operations.

What You’ll Bring:

• Completion of secondary education with a degree or diploma in flour milling technology from Swiss Milling School or UK Flour Millers or equivalent training in flour milling science and technology is required.
• A minimum of 10 years of industry experience in the food or beverage processing or manufacturing industry.
• A minimum of 5 years of related supervisory experience is required with preference given to prior experience as a Head Miller, Assistant Head Miller or Mill Supervisor.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
• Previous experience managing in a represented, multi‑shift operation is preferred.
