Job summary

Equinox Gold Corp. is seeking a Powerhouse Mechanic to join our Geraldton site. The role reports to the Mill Mechanical Supervisor and focuses on repairs and overhauls of Wartsila 20V34SG natural gas fueled generators within the mill complex.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of relevant experience, journeyperson certification, and a strong commitment to safety while coordinating with operators, engineers and other trades.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant professional work experience.
• Journeyperson trade certificate as Heavy Equipment Mechanic or Industrial Mechanic/Millwright.
• TSSA Gas Technician G1 or G2 certification is an asset.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong safety and environmental awareness.

Responsibilities

• Maintain powerhouse with 7 Wartsila 20V34SG engines and associated systems.
• Disassemble machinery and perform repairs; repair/replace/adjust components.
• Troubleshoot equipment and inspect parts for wear or defects.
• Maintain tools and equipment in a clean, organized state.

Job Title: Mill Maintenance Powerhouse Mechanic

Job Summary

We are seeking a Powerhouse Mechanic to join our team. Reporting to the Mill Mechanical Supervisor, the Powerhouse Mechanic is responsible for providing repairs, overhauls, on our site Wartsila 20V34SG Natural Gas Fueled Generators.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain the powerhouse, consisting of 7 ea. Wartsila 20V34SG engines, performing maintenance on all powerhouse auxiliary and support systems; cleans, lubricates parts, equipment and machinery.
• Disassemble machinery and equipment to remove parts and make repairs; repair, replace, adjust, align components of machinery and equipment.
• Troubleshoot equipment and examine parts for defects such as breakage or excessive wear; utilize hand tools, instruments and hydraulic tools to complete repairs and maintenance.
• Ensure all tools and equipment are maintained and kept in a clean and orderly condition.
• Maintain current knowledge of natural gas engines, turbochargers, fuel systems pumps and injectors, lube system pumps and filtration, cooling water system, combustion charge air system.
• Interact with a variety of employees on the property such as operators, engineering, trades and operating supervision on methods, procedures, and hazards in order to coordinate the services of other trades and service personnel in the planning of their portion of the job.
• Test, evaluate and observe operation of machinery and equipment to diagnose cause of malfunction.
• Maintain an accurate record of repairs and maintenance performed; track and place orders and requisition for parts and materials needed to complete job effectively; complete daily paperwork for engine data and performance.
• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of environmental risks and hazards as well as complies with safety policies and procedures and ensures daily workplace inspections are done in order to accurately identify and correct workplace hazards found.
• Ensure compliance with all established policies and standard operating procedures and advises coworkers and visitors of such policies and procedures.
• Perform other related duties.
• Perform operational equipment checks.
• Follow health and safety policies to ensure safety and environmental protection.
• Document and communicate actions, irregularities, and ongoing maintenance requirements.
