Job summary

Canada Pump and Power in Fort Saskatchewan, AB, is seeking a Millwright Mechanic for our Maintenance team. This shop-based, Monday-to-Friday role supports the repair, maintenance and inspection of industrial pumps and mechanical equipment, reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor.

The successful candidate will have Millwright certification, strong troubleshooting, and the ability to work with safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) trade certification or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience repairing and maintaining industrial and/or mechanical equipment.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driver's abstract.
  • Ability to complete required site-specific orientations and training.
  • Must participate in and successfully complete required drug and alcohol screening in accordance with company and/or client requirements.
  • Must be able to reliably report to the Canada Pump and Power facility in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Monday through Friday for a 7:30 AM start.
  • Ability to work occasional overtime and attend field/site locations when operationally required.
  • Primarily based at the Canada Pump and Power Fort Saskatchewan maintenance facility.
  • Occasional field/site deployment to support equipment maintenance and repairs.
  • Exposure to noisy, dusty, wet, and industrial work environments.
  • Occasional exposure to adverse weather conditions.
  • Regular interaction with management, employees, customers, contractors, and Operations personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, report, and assist in correcting potential hazards, incidents, and near misses.
  • Complete Field Level Risk Assessments (FLRAs).
  • Provide daily summaries of work activities using company-established reporting requirements.
  • Analyze equipment operation, maintenance processes, and procedures to identify opportunities to improve effectiveness, productivity, quality, health, and safety.
  • Conduct defect and root cause analysis and participate in corrective and preventative actions.
  • Work collaboratively with the Maintenance team and Operations to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Document repairs and complete and submit work orders to the Maintenance Supervisor.

Millwright Mechanic – Fort Saskatchewan, AB

Canada Pump and Power is looking for a Millwright Mechanic to join our Maintenance team at our Fort Saskatchewan facility.

This is a shop-based, Monday-to-Friday position located in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. Candidates do not need to currently reside in Fort Saskatchewan; however, the successful candidate must be able to reliably report to our Fort Saskatchewan facility each scheduled workday.

Schedule & Location

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday
  • Hours: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
  • 40 hours per week
  • Home every night – this is not a rotational or camp-based position
  • Occasional approved overtime may be required based on operational demand
  • Occasional field/site work may be required to support equipment maintenance outside of the shop
Job Statement

The Millwright Mechanic provides maintenance support to Operations through the repair, maintenance, and inspection of company equipment and assets. This position works on industrial pumps, mechanical equipment, heavy equipment, and other assets under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor while adhering to company safety protocols and quality standards.

Key areas of performance for this position include efficiency, effectiveness, and quality.

Accountabilities
  • Follow company processes, Safe Work Procedures, and Safe Work Practices.
  • Work within company, customer, regulatory, and other applicable standards related to the scope of work.
  • Identify, report, and assist in correcting potential hazards, incidents, and near misses.
  • Complete Field Level Risk Assessments (FLRAs).
  • Provide daily summaries of work activities using company-established reporting requirements.
  • Analyze equipment operation, maintenance processes, and procedures to identify opportunities to improve effectiveness, productivity, quality, health, and safety.

  • Support quality control requirements to ensure equipment is repaired and maintained according to specifications.
  • Document repairs and complete and submit work orders to the Maintenance Supervisor.
Stage & Prepare Repair Materials
  • Collect and stage required parts and components for repairs.
  • Operate appropriate rigging equipment and dollies to position heavy machinery and components.
  • Load staged materials and equipment into service trucks as required.
  • Dispose of post-repair materials in an environmentally responsible manner.
  • Follow daily repair priorities established by the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and establish anticipated repair requirements and timeframes.
  • Requisition required parts and specialty components.
  • Perform corrective and preventative maintenance on company assets in accordance with manufacturer specifications and applicable safety standards.
  • Fit bearings, align gears and shafts, attach motors, and connect couplings and belts to required tolerances.
  • Inspect and verify completed repairs.
  • Report completed maintenance and repair activities to the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Consult with the Maintenance Supervisor regarding mechanical standards, protocols, and warranty repair procedures.
  • Conduct pre-use equipment inspections and report required maintenance.
  • Become familiar with and comply with Canada Pump and Power and customer rules, regulations, and standards.
  • Perform other duties as required.
