Job summary

Future Fields is seeking a hands-on Scale-up Technologist to move midstream bioprocessing from pilot to full production on our Edmonton floor. You will commission equipment, optimize throughput, and own the documentation that makes campaigns reliable.

You will work with a small, focused team to design workflows, train operators, and ensure the process runs at rate with robust quality. A background in solid-liquid separation and hands-on mechanical work is essential.

Qualifications

• Production-scale solid-liquid separation with real industrial rates.
• Taken a process from pilot to production and on-floor during rate trials.
• Commissioning and startup including installation and site acceptance.
• Read P&IDs, rebuild pumps and specify fabrication needs.
• Mass balances, yield accounting and structured optimization.
• Ability to operate with limited infrastructure and build required tools.
• Documentation discipline to produce usable SOPs and run records.

Responsibilities

• Commissioning and startup of new midstream equipment with real material.
• Establish baselines for midstream performance and throughput.
• Develop a rate-improvement plan and execute campaigns end-to-end.
• Train operators and author SOPs, run records, and troubleshooting guides.
• Maintain readiness checks, spares strategy and preventive maintenance.
• Collaborate with purification and downstream teams on specs and handoff.
