Job description

Sixone’s mission is to enable a world where blended plastics products can be circularly recycled back into existing supply chains instead of being sent to landfill. Sixone is a leading technology startup company developing advanced recycling technologies for blended plastics and plastic-based products. The technology applies process digitalization and advanced analytics to build a recycling system to enable efficient plastics recycling. Our goal is to revolutionize the economics of recycled materials through innovative processing and materials technologies.

Role Overview

We seek an experienced technical engineer with strong technical hands-on engineering skills, chemical and materials processing, structured problem-solving, and effective communication to join this dynamic, diverse, and forward-thinking technical team. You will play a pivotal role in translating the company’s technologies into large-scale facilities. You will be responsible for planning and executing the scale-up tasks, hardware de-risking, working closely with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and external vendors to ensure technical robustness and communication, and resolving challenges that arise during the project lifecycle. If you are energized by active problem-solving, thrive in dynamic environments, and prefer hands-on engineering over theoretical analysis, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute and manage scale-up tasks, including equipment design, development, testing, and optimization.
  • Conduct on-site troubleshooting to address technical and operational issues.
  • Perform process diagnostics and structured problem-solving to ensure robust process design and performance
  • Oversee process integration and planning for optimized operations.
  • Develop clear and actionable technical documentation and maintain effective inter- and intra-team communication to ensure clarity and cross-team alignment.
  • Improve engineering practices through detailed technical analysis and direct engagement with external equipment and process vendors.
  • Foster a pro-active, hands-on culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with technical and business teams and other stakeholders to align technical developments with long-term goals and strategies.
What We Are Looking For
  • 4+ years of process engineering, chemical engineering, or materials science, with strong expertise in chemical or materials processing
  • Proven experience having direct involvement in supporting practical engineering projects, technology scale-up, process design and optimization, or engineering construction
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex engineering challenges and translate technical data into actionable insights through direct engagement
  • Excellent attention to detail, structured problem-solving skills, and a pro-active mindset
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work across multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience in chemical recycling, polymer processing, or waste management is a plus
  • Eligibility to work legally in Canada.
Why Join Us?

We offer a dynamic environment with opportunities for professional growth, technical challenges, and leadership experience. Our team values communication, teamwork, and rigorous problem-solving to tackle industry challenges. We offer a competitive salary, benefits package, and opportunities for career advancement. Be part of a pioneering company driving the future of chemical recycling and sustainability and contribute to solving real-world environmental challenges while working with passionate and dedicated colleagues.
