A regional health authority in New Brunswick is seeking a qualified MI-Generalist Sonographer to perform general ultrasound examinations under supervision. The ideal candidate will have an Ultrasound Technologist Diploma and certification as a Generalist Sonographer. Responsibilities include receiving requisitions, monitoring equipment, and operating ultrasound tools while ensuring patient safety. This role requires effective communication and the ability to work independently as well as part of a healthcare team.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved Ultrasound Technologist Diploma program.
• Certification as a Generalist Sonographer from Sonography Canada and/or ARDMS.
• One (1) year recent, related experience in a health care setting.

Job Description

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of Island Health (Vancouver Island Health Authority), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the supervisor, and under the general supervision of a radiologist, the MI Generalist Sonographer performs general ultrasound examinations. Duties include receiving and completing requisitions, forms and reports; preparing and monitoring supplies and equipment; patient monitoring; and operating ultrasound equipment, including preparing and presenting patient data to radiologist.

0.53 Ultrasound procedure room position Monday and Friday and alternating Wednesdays. 0730-1530

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training And Experience

Graduation from an approved Ultrasound Technologist Diploma program.

Sonography Canada and/or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) certification credentials as a Generalist Sonographer and one (1) year recent, related experience in a health care setting, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Eligible for registration with Sonography Canada.
