Job summary

A regional health authority located in Port Alberni is seeking a MI Generalist Sonographer to perform general ultrasound examinations. This role involves patient care, operating advanced ultrasound equipment, and collaborating with healthcare professionals. Candidates should have an accredited Ultrasound Technologist Diploma and certification as a Generalist Sonographer. Job Description

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of Island Health (Vancouver Island Health Authority), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the supervisor, and under the general supervision of a radiologist, the MI Generalist Sonographer performs general ultrasound examinations. Duties include receiving and completing requisitions, forms and reports; preparing and monitoring supplies and equipment; patient monitoring; and operating ultrasound equipment, including preparing and presenting patient data to radiologist.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training And Experience

Graduation from an approved Ultrasound Technologist Diploma program.

Sonography Canada and/or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) certification credentials as a Generalist Sonographer and one (1) year recent, related experience in a health care setting, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Eligible for registration with Sonography Canada.
