Job summary

Rheinmetall Canada is seeking a Metrology Technician to perform dimensional inspections and metrology analyses ensuring components meet technical and contractual requirements. You will support production, engineering, and quality teams, program and interpret CMM results, and contribute to process improvements in a dynamic environment.

Ideal candidates have a DEC in mechanical engineering, 3+ years in metrology, experience with CMMs and PC-DMIS/PolyWorks, and strong blueprint Reading skills.

Qualifications

  • A DEC in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in metrology or dimensional inspection in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
  • Experience in a regulated or high-quality-demand environment (aerospace, defense, automotive, or electronics) is an asset.
  • Good command of mechanical blueprint reading.
  • Experience with conventional measuring tools: verniers, micrometers, comparators, gauges.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Knowledge of CMM programming software such as PC-DMIS, PolyWorks, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Perform dimensional inspections on mechanical parts, assemblies, and finished products using conventional and specialized measuring equipment.
  • Program, operate, and interpret results from coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
  • Perform verification, calibration, and management activities for measuring instruments.
  • Analyze technical drawings, geometric tolerances (GD&T), and customer specifications.
  • Produce inspection reports, dimensional analyses, and required certificates of conformity.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of inspection methods and quality control processes.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 standards, internal procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Permanent full-time position (37.5 hours/week, Monday to Thursday)

Under the supervision of the Production Supervisor, the Metrology Technician is responsible for performing dimensional inspections, metrology activities, and related analyses to ensure the compliance of components, assemblies, and products with technical, regulatory, and contractual requirements.

The person acts as a technical reference for measurements and supports the production, engineering, and quality teams in the continuous improvement of manufacturing processes.

  • Perform measurements, tests, and metrological validations on lithium batteries and associated equipment.
