Job summary

Pomerleau in Ontario is seeking an experienced CAD/BIM technician to produce and detail methods and temporary works designs for varied projects. You will create 2D and 3D drawings and models and provide technical guidance to engineers, technicians and field teams.

The role demands strong attention to detail, proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit, and the ability to adapt drawings to feedback while maintaining up‑to‑date records and compliant designs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in CAD, BIM, Engineering Technology or related field.
  • 5+ years as a technician in the construction industry, with methods/temporary works experience preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar CAD software; BIM experience is a plus.
  • Strong accuracy in creating design drawings and models for construction projects.
  • Clear communication of technical information and ability to incorporate feedback.
  • Experience in 2D/3D visualization and modeling of methods and temporary works.
  • Strong analytical skills, rigor, and interest in new technologies.
  • Ability to communicate technical issues clearly, orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work in a team with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed methods and temporary works drawings and models (2D/3D) using CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit).
  • Collaborate with engineers, technicians and construction teams to meet specifications and standards.
  • Prepare and participate in optimizing site logistics, installation sequences and planning.
  • Modify drawings based on feedback and field changes, keeping models up-to-date.
  • Maintain organized records of drawings, models and design documents for accessibility and compliance.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to fellow technicians.
  • Ensure compliance with the Design Quality Management Plan and report non-compliance issues.

Ready to build your career? We want to hear from you. As an experienced and skilled technician working in the Methods & Temporary Works (M&TW) team at Pomerleau, you will play a critical role in producing and detailing methods and temporary works designs essential to the construction of various projects. You will provide technical guidance and will play a critical role in detailing technical drawings and 3D models. The ideal candidate has experience with construction projects, a strong eye for detail, and is highly proficient in latest 2D and 3D CAD/BIM software.

What You Will Do
  • Develop detailed methods and temporary works technical drawings and models (2D & 3D) using CAD software (such as AutoCAD and Revit).
  • Collaborate with engineers, technicians and construction teams to ensure that drawings and models meet specifications, requirements and standards.
  • Prepare and actively participate in the optimization of plans for site logistic and installation, work sequences, team/equipment sequencing and other operations.
  • Modify drawings based on feedback from engineers, construction teams or field changes, ensuring that all drawings and models remain up-to-date.
  • Maintain organized records of drawings, models, and design documents to ensure accessibility and compliance with department and project requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to fellow technicians.
  • Ensure compliance with the Design Quality Management Plan and report non-compliance issues.
This Role Could Be For You If
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in CAD, BIM, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years as a technician in the construction industry, with specific experience in methods and temporary works preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar CAD software; experience with BIM (Building Information Modeling) is a plus.
  • Strong accuracy and precision in creating design drawings and models, with awareness of the unique challenges of construction projects.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical information with team members and adapt design drawings and models to feedback.
  • Experience in 2D/3D visualization and modeling of methods and temporary works or other construction operations.
  • Strong analytical skills, rigor, technical knowledge and an interest in new technologies
  • Ability to communicate technical issues in a way that is clearly understood, using high-quality oral and written language
  • Ability to work in a team and collaborate with various stakeholders
