Job summary

Durabac Inc. in Canada (Granby, Estrie) is seeking a metal forming worker to join our on-site team. You will check shapes and specs, operate multiple forging machines, and help with heating and shaping metal pieces to specification.

The role requires 1 year to less than 2 years of experience, a secondary school diploma, and the ability to work in a hot, noisy environment with possible odours. Good communication and teamwork are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Secondary school graduation certificate required.
• 1 year to less than 2 years of metal forming or shaping experience.
• On-site work only; no remote option.
• Ability to read and interpret specifications or follow verbal instructions.
• Excellent oral communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Check products for correct shapes, dimensions and other specifications.
• Clean and lubricate machinery and equipment.
• Cut, bend, roll, ream, punch, drill, weld or otherwise shape and form metal stock into parts or products.
• Document work completed.
• Investigate problems to fix or make minor repair.
• Lay out, set up and operate one or more light or heavy metalworking machines.
• Operate gas or oil fired furnace to heat metal to proper temperatures prior to forging.
• Operate machines or equipment which weld, solder, bolt, screw or rivet metal parts together.
• Operate presses or other forging machines to perform hot or cold forging to shape or form metal.
• Place metal pieces in furnace.
• Position and adjust dies on anvil of forging machinery.
• Position heated or cooled metal pieces on die of press or other forging machinery.
• Read and interpret specifications or follow verbal instructions.
• Remove metal pieces from furnace when colour or metal indicates proper forging temperature.
• Select and transport material to work area manually or using crane or hoist.
