Job summary

SGS is seeking a Laboratory Technician to conduct a wide range of testing and analysis on base and precious metal ores, industrial minerals, and materials at our Canadian facilities.

The role involves hands-on lab work, equipment calibration, data compilation and reporting, and ensuring safe, accurate operations in a fast-paced environment. Strong English communication and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education (three-year diploma) in a science-related program is required.
• 1–3 years of laboratory experience is required.
• Must read and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate and timely manner.
• Proficient in using Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide variety of testing and analysis on base and precious metal ores, industrial minerals and materials.
• Design, develop, test, install and operate equipment and systems.
• Conduct applied research and experimental testing.
• Compile and analyze data and prepare reports.
• Receive, inspect, sort and label client samples.
• Sort, crush, pulverize, split, and screen samples.
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment or components.
• Calibrate and set up equipment prior to analysis.
• Maintain a clean working environment.
