SGS Canada is offering 8-, 12-, or 16-month co-op positions in Extractive Metallurgy in Lakefield, Ontario. This role involves performing a wide range of testing and analysis on base and precious metal ores, minerals and materials.

You must be enrolled in a science-related program; English communication; proficiency with Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook; and willingness to extended hours and travel. Compensation CAD 20.50 to 22.50 per hour.

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in a post secondary education science-related program.
  • Experience in a laboratory setting is a strong asset.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Strong time management and attention to detail.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work well with others and independently.
  • Extended hours and shift work may be required from time to time.
  • Travel to other SGS locations or client locations may be required.
  • Comply with Health & Safety, Code of Integrity, and Professional Conduct policies.

  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment or components.
  • Calibrate and set up equipment prior to analysis.

In anticipation of future projects, our Metallurgy and Consulting group is proactively recruiting students for internship opportunities. We are considering candidates that are able to start work in January 2027 or May 2027 to coincide with the end of the fall and spring semesters.

This co-op position will conduct a wide variety of testing and analysis on base and precious metal ores, industrial minerals and materials. We are considering students for 8 months, or 12 to 16 months co-op terms.

  • Experience in a laboratory setting is a strong asset.
  • Incumbents must be proficient in using various types of computer software (Word, Excel. PowerPoint & Outlook).
  • Good time management skills and a strong attention to detail.
  • Candidates must be able to communicate effectively in English, in both verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to work well with others & independently.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Extended hours and shift work may be required from time to time.
  • Travel to other SGS locations or client location may be required from time to time.
  • Must ensure full compliance with the company’s Health & Safety, Code of Integrity, and Professional Conduct policies.

Compensation:$20.50 to $22.50 per hour / 40 hours per week.
