Job summary

IAMGOLD is seeking a Metallurgist for the Côté Gold operation in Gogama, Ontario. You will lead metallurgical deliverables, oversee process analysis, and support projects to optimize plant performance and gold recovery.

Reporting to the Mill Manager, you will coordinate with geology, mining, operations, maintenance and lab teams to drive continuous improvement, safety and sustainable results across the mine's processing circuit.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in metallurgical or chemical engineering or related field required.
  • Ontario Engineer in Training/PEO registration is an asset.
  • 3–5 years of related work experience.
  • Solid understanding of optimizing mill throughput and recovery.
  • Previous experience in a gold processing plant is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mill metallurgy activities including sampling, testing, performance monitoring, and metallurgical accounting to optimize circuit efficiency.
  • Analyze and interpret process data, troubleshoot performance issues, and implement improvements to maximize gold recovery and minimize costs.
  • Coordinate cross-functional inputs (geology, mining, operations, maintenance, lab) to support efficient plant performance and production targets.
  • Prepare production reports, reconciliation data, and technical recommendations to support operational decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Manage vendors, consultants, and contractors while ensuring safe, accurate operation of analyzers, samplers, and milling systems.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying risks, implementing best practices, conducting research, and leading initiatives to enhance safety, sustainability, and metallurgical performance.

  • We’re actively searching for a Metallurgist to join the Côté Gold operation team, start date to be determined, reporting to the Mill Manager. This role leads metallurgical deliverables, oversees process analysis, supports projects, and coordinates consultants while ensuring effective communication and performance tracking.
    This role is critical to optimizing plant performance, ensuring safe and efficient mill operations, and supporting production targets through collaboration with mining, geology, and plant teams—directly contributing to reliable gold production and continuous improvement aligned with IMG’s purpose.

  • Post-secondary degree in metallurgical engineering, chemical engineering, or a related field is required.
  • Registration as an Engineer in Ontario (PEO) is considered an asset.
  • A minimum of 3 -5 years of related work experience.
  • Must have a solid understanding of optimizing mill throughput and recovery.
  • Previous experience in a gold processing plant is considered an asset.

Salary Range: $89,000- $133,500
The final offer is determined based on your individual skills, qualifications, and competencies and aligned with our commitment to internal equity.
