Job summary

AtkinsRéalis, a leading nuclear engineering group in Canada, seeks a Metallurgical Laboratory professional to conduct testing and inspections across metallic and non-metallic materials. You will document results, present findings to customers, and ensure safety and adherence to procedures in a dynamic lab environment.

Ideal candidates hold a metallurgy-related diploma, with familiarity in welding inspections and ASTM standards, and strong computer/word processing skills.

Qualifications

  • Degree from a community college in Metallurgy or equivalent.
  • LPI, UT, and/or MT certification(s) would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of metallurgy, welding inspections, and applicable industry standards, including ASTM testing requirements.
  • Strong practical aptitude with inspection and testing equipment.
  • Proficiency in computer and word-processing applications.
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct all operations related to the services offered by the Metallurgical Laboratory.
  • Document the testing results and services and present the findings to the customer.
  • Ensure the activities performed in the Metallurgical Laboratory are conducted safely and in accordance with operational procedures/practices.
  • Assist in the preparation of specifications and procedures used in the Met Lab.

Job Description Overview

AtkinsRéalis is one of Canada's largest private sector nuclear engineering groups. The mandate of the Metallurgical Laboratory is to provide testing and analysis services with respect to materials both metallic and non metallic. The types of services offered include: Hardness testing. Mechanical testing. Non destructive examination. Heat treatment. Cutting and grinding. Metallographic examination. Failure analysis. Corrosion studies in high temperature and pressure autoclaves. Miscellaneous bench top corrosion tests.

Your role
