Job summary

VAW Systems Ltd. is seeking a metal fabrication helper to operate cleaning equipment, support fitters, and sort materials in a busy sheet metal shop located in Canada. The role requires reading work orders and maintaining safe, organized work areas.

The position is on-site only, with a dusty, hot, and noisy environment. You should have 1 year to less than 2 years of related experience and a secondary school graduation certificate or equivalent experience. Own transportation is preferred.

Qualifications

• 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in metal fabrication or related field.
• Secondary school graduation certificate or equivalent experience.
• On-site work at all times with no remote option.

Responsibilities

• Operate metal cleaning equipment to remove excess welds, rust, scale and other materials from surfaces of metal products.
• Assist structural steel and platework fitters, sheet metal workers, metal machine operators or other metal workers.
• Sort metal sheets and parts, scrap metal and other materials.
• Grind or chip excess metal from metal products using hand tools.
• Clean machines and immediate work areas.
• Load and unload vehicle.
• Read and interpret work orders.
