Job summary

ADM invites students to join its Summer Internship Program as a Merchandising Intern in Port Colborne, Ontario. This 12-week, full-time internship offers hands-on exposure to wheat flour milling, production scheduling, logistics coordination, and collaboration with the Commercial Manager and cross-functional teams.

You will develop practical skills, work on real business projects, and may receive housing and transportation assistance depending on location.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a four‑year degree with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and summer 2029.
  • GPA requirement: minimum overall GPA of 2.8.
  • Reliable transportation to/from the assigned work location.
  • 12-week internship from mid‑May through early August 2027.
  • ADM cannot sponsor work visas for this position.

  • Train and present monthly P/L analysis.
  • Learn procurement and execution of bulk truck, rail and packaging lines.
  • Track grain movements of inbound rail and wheat truck scheduling.
  • Collaborate with centralized customer service on orders.

  • Assist in month end reconciliation and PR/PO processing.

Internship Program Requirements

About the Position

The position teaches the basics of wheat flour milling by working alongside the location Commercial Manager and other related staff. Areas of concentration will include the scheduling of production, logistic coordination of mill inbound grain, outbound products, and by‑products. Learn how to manage relationships with local operational, sales and quality teams and develop customers and suppliers contacts. As well as learning underneath a Commercial Manager to strategically think on growth opportunities, projects, profit and loss analysis and go‑to‑market strategy. The position will also have light support duties learning inventory management, month end reconciliation, pr/po processing and other related processes.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Train and present monthly P/L analysis
  • Learn the procurement and execution of bulk truck, rail and packaging lines
  • Track grain movements of inbound rail and wheat truck scheduling
  • Work closely with centralized customer service on customer orders
  • Learn how to develop Go To Market Strategy for Mill and Free to Sell
  • Report and monitor inventories of flour, wheat, ingredients, and by‑products and make timely and coordinated decisions
  • Participate in month end reconciliation
  • PR/PO processing as needed
  • Spend time with operations, quality and sales to understand each role
  • Be available off shifts and weekends to receive calls if needed
  • Strive to maintain the safest work environment possible
  • Work on special projects to enhance learning and training
  • Participate in daily operation reviews
Required Skills And Qualifications
  • Good working knowledge of Excel, Word, MS Outlook
  • Detail‑oriented with the ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and prioritize tasks to meet specific deadlines
  • Interpersonal skills with desire to be a team member
  • Effective oral and written communication
  • High performer with initiative to learn other responsibilities
