Job summary

Communitascare in Mission, BC is seeking a temporary, full-time Community Mental Health Worker/Social Services professional to support persons served in their recovery journey within the clubhouse setting. You will assist in activities that promote employment readiness, education and social integration.

Responsibilities include facilitating vocational programs, developing job skills, coordinating training and community involvement, and maintaining progress documentation with the Clubhouse

Qualifications

• Certificate in Community Mental Health Worker/Social Services or approved equivalent is required.
• Experience supporting people with chronic mental illness or concurrent disorders is preferred.
• Knowledge of psychosocial rehabilitation principles is desirable.
• Emergency First Aid/CPR certification and a valid Class 5 driver’s license are required or will be considered an asset.
• Ability to work with confidentiality and demonstrate strong communication and mediation skills.

• Identify members’ interests and needs related to psychosocial rehabilitation.
• Support goal setting, social/leisure opportunities and group educational programs.
• Observe and report changes in member behaviour to the Clubhouse Manager.
• Maintain documentation on member progress and financial records as required.
• Coordinate and facilitate supported employment opportunities.
• Ensure safety, vehicle operation, and compliance with policies and standards.
• Collaborate with staff, volunteers and external professionals.

Job description

This temporary, full-time position (30hrs/wk) supports persons served in their recovery journey. Involvingmembers in all aspects of the program, and helping themwork towards identified goals in areas of personal life and education, with an emphasis on increasing access to opportunities for work.

TASKS PERFORMED

• Help create and foster a work culture in the clubhouse.
• Orient and facilitate clients’ participation in programs, with a focus on vocational programs
• Assist members to develop any needed transferable job skills
• Assist members in finding relevant training or work that will lead to eventual job placement
• Assist members to participate in community activities and volunteer work by helping them to maximize their strengths, develop and/or maintain skills, abilities and personal supports
• Help develop, implement and review RPs for clients, and communicate RP recommendations and/or changes to Clubhouse Manager
• Identify members’ interests, needs and abilities as related to key components of Psychosocial Rehabilitation
• Encourage members to set attainable goals for themselves
• Create social and leisure opportunities which will reduce isolation, increase self-esteem, and establish social and support networks
• Plan, implement, facilitate and evaluate educational programs and group activities and supports members participation
• Observe, evaluate, identify and report any concerns or changes in member behaviour to Clubhouse Manager
• Maintain current and accurate documentation regarding member progress, financial records and statistical information as required
• Transport members to and from activities, observing all legal and safety requirements and advise Clubhouse Manager of any concerns regarding safe operation of the vehicle
• Maintain appropriate levels of supplies, equipment and cleanliness as necessary
• Maintain current knowledge of and comply with all organizational policies and standards as outlined in the policy and procedures manual, health & safety manual, job description and other documentation
• Establish and maintain positive working relationships with staff, volunteers, clients and other professionals with particular focus on vocational opportunities
• Assist in training or providing direction to volunteers, staff and practicum students
• Collaborate and liaise with other professionals and community service organizations as needed
• Attend work related in-services and staff meetings as required
• Follow verbal and written directives from the Clubhouse Manager or designate
• Assist in maintaining online information, including Facebook and Clubhouse website
• Coordinate and facilitate supported employment opportunities
• Other duties as assigned
• Community Mental Health Worker/Social Services certificate or approved equivalent
• Familiar with and able to implement Psychosocial Rehabilitation principles fostering a belief in the recovery process
• Knowledge/understanding of psychotropic medications is an asset
• Previous experience supporting people with chronic mental illness or concurrent disorders

Shifts are:

Week 1: Tuesday to Friday 9-4pm
Week 2: Monday 12-4, Tues to Friday 9-4pm

WAGE RANGE: $29.36 - $31.35 hourly salary
