Job summary

Island Health is seeking a Mental Health and Addictions Rehab Support Worker to enhance the wellbeing of patients in an acute care setting. You will work under the supervision of a senior nurse, providing crucial support and socialization services, while ensuring patient safety and quality care at all times.

Qualifications

• Grade 10 education required; recognized Nursing Assistant Program completed.
• Registered with the BC Care Aide registry is mandatory.
• Experience in a related role for at least six months is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing activation and socialization services for mental health patients.
• Provide personal care assistance and support for mental health and addiction issues.

Job Description

• In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient safety is a priority and a shared responsibility. Continuous quality and safety improvement are inherent in all aspects of this position.
• Under the general supervision of a senior nurse (e.g., Registered Nurse or Psychiatric Nurse) and supporting a multidisciplinary team, the Support Worker assists in providing activation and socialization services for mental health patients in an acute care setting. They also provide personal care assistance and support services to patients experiencing mental health, addiction, behavioral, and developmental issues.

Qualifications

Education, Training, and Experience

Grade 10 education, completion of a recognized Nursing Assistant Program, and six (6) months of recent, related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Registered with the BC Care Aide registry.
