Job summary

Healthcare & Municipal Employees' Credit Union (HMECU) is seeking a dynamic Member Services Representative for our Limeridge Branch in Hamilton. This full-time role focuses on delivering frontline banking services, building trusted member relationships, and recommending suitable products to meet financial goals.

Reporting to the Branch Manager, you will manage accounts and daily transactions with accuracy, while supporting a collaborative, member-focused team environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of cash-handling experience; banking or credit union background preferred.
• Strong customer service skills and the ability to handle sensitive member situations.
• Clear communication with members, colleagues, and management; detail oriented.

Responsibilities

• Build meaningful relationships with members by assessing needs and recommending products.
• Provide service and proactive financial advice in person, by phone, and via email.
• Resolve member concerns using sound judgment and service recovery techniques.
• Identify opportunities to deepen member relationships and promote products.
• Open and close member accounts and balance cash drawers daily.
• Ensure accuracy in transactions including RRSPs, TFSAs, GICs and term deposits.
• Collaborate with colleagues to maintain a positive, member-focused environment.

Job Purpose & Summary

Reporting to the Branch Manager, the Member Services Representative (MSR) is responsible for providing a full range of frontline banking services while delivering exceptional member experiences. This role focuses on building trusted relationships, understanding member needs, and recommending appropriate products and services to support members’ financial wellbeing. The MSR plays a key role in daily branch operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and professionalism in all transactions, while contributing to a positive, collaborative branch environment.

What you'd be doing:

As a Member Service Representative, you will play an important role in helping our members achieve their financial goals while creating exceptional service experiences. In this role, you will:

• Build meaningful relationships with members by assessing needs and recommending appropriate products and services.
• Provide service and proactive financial advice through in-person, phone, and email channels with professionalism and clarity.
• Resolve member concerns using sound judgment and service recovery techniques.
• Identify opportunities to deepen member relationships and support members with products and services that align with their financial goals.
• Promote and upsell Credit Union products to achieve individual and organizational sales targets.
• Open and close member accounts.
• Ensure accuracy in all member transactions, including RRSPs, TFSAs, GICs, and term deposits.
• Balance cash drawers, outgoing cheques, and other transactional responsibilities daily.
• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a positive, supportive, and member-focused branch environment.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HMECU policies, procedures, guidelines, and legislation, including Money Laundering and Privacy regulations.

Skill Requirements

Required Experience:

• Minimum 1 year of cash-handling experience; prior banking or credit union experience preferred.
• Superior customer service skills, including handling difficult or sensitive member situations.
• Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Must be bondable.
