Job summary

Hatch Vancouver is seeking a highly motivated Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Student to join our local office on campus terms. You will support cable sizing, layouts, analyses, BOMs, and simulations using spreadsheets and industry software.

The successful candidate is enrolled in an electrical engineering program, has coursework or experience in hydrotechnical topics, and is proficient with GIS, AutoCAD, and MS Office.

Qualifications

  • Enrollment in an accredited Electrical engineering undergraduate or graduate program, with successful completion of at least the second year.
  • Demonstrated coursework, research, and/or work experience in hydrotechnical engineering topics (water diversion structures, penstock piping).
  • Proficiency in GIS, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Experience with electrical system design/analysis software such as ETAP or EasyPower is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct cable sizing, cable tray layout, electrical equipment layout, analyses, BOMs, and simulations using spreadsheets or industry software.
  • Assist with preparation of technical reports, drawings, specifications, and project correspondence.
  • Contribute to development of proposals and client presentations.
  • Conduct field visits to client sites if required.

Hatchis currently seeking a highly motivated Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Studentto join our Vancouver office.

As the successful candidate, you will:

  • Conduct cable sizing, cable tray layout, electrical equipment layout, electrical analyses, calculations, bill of materials, and computer simulations using spreadsheets or discipline-specific software packages..
  • Support in the preparation of technical reports, drawings, specifications, and project related correspondence.
  • Assist with the development of proposals and presentations for clients.
  • Conduct field visits to client sites (if required).

You bring to the role:

  • Enrollment in an accredited Electrical engineering (or similar) undergraduate or graduate program at the university level, and successful completion of at least the second year of the program.
  • Demonstrated coursework, research, and/or work experience in hydrotechnical engineering topics. This includes topics such as water diversion structures and equipment and penstock piping.
  • Proficiency in the use of programs such as GIS, AutoCad, and Microsoft® desktop software including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Project.
  • Experience using electrical system design and analysis software such as ETAP and EasyPower, or similar platforms will be considered an Asset.
  • Dedicated team player with strong interpersonal, communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

Compensation:

Range: $26.00 - $33.00
