Job description

PET Technologist, Molecular Imaging and Therapy (PET / CT)

BC Cancer

Within a client service culture and in accordance with established standards of professional practice, as well as the mission, vision, values, objectives, and policies of BC Cancer, performs Positron Emission Tomography / Computed Tomography (PET / CT) imaging and related duties within the Regional Functional Imaging department. Responsibilities include performing PET / CT procedures, patient radiotracer injections, general patient care such as vital signs, IV lines, blood glucose checks, system management for digital imaging, maintaining procedural documents, monitoring equipment performance, routine quality control, and other technical functions in a detail-oriented environment.

What you'll do

  1. Perform all aspects of clinical PET / CT scanning, including selecting protocols, patient positioning, image acquisition, data reconstruction, and presenting images for interpretation.
  2. Prepare patients by explaining procedures, answering questions, and obtaining informed consent.
  3. Conduct technical tasks such as correlating clinical history, recording vital signs, establishing venous access, checking blood glucose, and administering radiotracers.
  4. Monitor patient safety, respond to emergencies, and perform CPR if necessary.
  5. Operate PET and CT equipment as per standards.
  6. Consult with team members regarding technical difficulties or concerns during procedures.

What you bring

  1. CAMRT certification in Nuclear Medicine.
  2. At least 3 years of recent experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
  3. Completion of formal PET / CT education or equivalent training/experience.
  4. Knowledge of the impacts of colonialism and systemic racism on Indigenous Peoples, with a commitment to anti-racism and Indigenous cultural safety.

Core Competencies

  1. Understanding of Indigenous-specific and systemic racism, with initiatives to promote safety and belonging.
  2. Awareness of social, economic, and political realities affecting Indigenous Peoples and health disparities.

You have

  1. Broad knowledge of Nuclear Medicine procedures, radiopharmacy, and radiation safety.
  2. Experience with PET / CT equipment and systems.
  3. Research methodology knowledge.
  4. High-level patient care skills for all ages.
  5. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.

Wage : $38.08 - $47.55 per hour.
