Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our SRx Clinics infusion team as a Medical Office Assistant. As a crucial member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing administrative support and assisting in the efficient operations in our Edmonton Hys clinic. Your primary role will involve managing patient records, ordering supplies, scheduling appointments, coordinating communication, and performing various clerical tasks to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.

Patient Management

Your day-to-day responsibilities -

  • Greeting and welcoming patients, providing a professional and friendly atmosphere.
  • Assist patients in completing necessary forms and obtaining required documentation.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, including medical history and personal information.
  • Schedule patient infusion appointments
  • Coordinate referrals to specialists, ensuring timely communication and documentation.


Administrative Support

  • Answer phone calls, screen and direct inquiries, and take accurate messages as necessary.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence, including mail, email, and faxes.
  • Maintain an organized filing system for medical records, requisitions, and other relevant documentation.
  • Handle and maintain inventory of office supplies, equipment, and medications.


Communication And Coordination

  • Liaise with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure effective patient care.
  • Communicate with patients regarding appointment reminders and other relevant information.
  • Collaborate closely with our Edmonton SRx Pharmacy


Compliance And Privacy

  • Adhere to all applicable healthcare regulations, policies, and procedures, ensuring patient confidentiality and privacy.
  • Maintain knowledge of clinic protocols and best practices to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of medical records, following proper documentation guidelines.
  • Assist with maintaining a clean and organized office environment, adhering to infection control and safety protocols.


Job Specifications & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in healthcare administration is plus.
  • Proven experience as a medical office assistant or in a similar administrative role within a healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and insurance processes.
  • Proficiency in using electronic medical record (EMR) systems and other office software applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, healthcare professionals, and colleagues.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • A team-oriented mindset and a willingness to collaborate and assist others when needed.
