Position Overview

Medical Laboratory Technologist – Virology

Provincial Laboratory Medicine Services is seeking a meticulous, certified laboratory professional passionate about Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Genetics, Anatomic Pathology, Clinical Microbiology, Histology, Molecular Diagnostics, Transfusion Medicine, Lab Information Systems, Cytogenetics, Cytology, and more. Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain and process laboratory samples.
  • Perform and analyze laboratory procedures per SOPs.
  • Prepare reagents and controls for testing.
  • Communicate results effectively to healthcare teams.
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory instruments, troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Contribute to the evaluation and development of policies and procedures.
Qualifications
  • CSMLS certification.
  • Experience in Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Transfusion Medicine, Histology, Cytology, Cytogenetics, or Molecular Diagnostics. New grads are welcome.
  • Strong communication and adaptability skills.
  • Commitment to Indigenous cultural safety and understanding of systemic racism and health disparities affecting Indigenous Peoples, aligned with provincial and national mandates.
Core Competencies & Skills
  • Understanding of Indigenous-specific racism and systemic barriers.
  • Knowledge of social determinants of health and anti-racism initiatives.
  • Technical proficiency in laboratory procedures and quality control.

Additional Information

This position is based at St. Paul's Hospital, Vancouver, BC, with hours ranging from 0700 to 2300 on a rotating schedule. The role is full-time, permanent, and offers a competitive wage and benefits package.
