Job summary

Cambrian College in Ontario is seeking Medical Laboratory Technologists for part-time/casual roles beginning September 2026. These positions are up to 24 hours per week and may be temporary part-time or on-call.

The roles involve assisting faculty with laboratory courses, maintaining safety and organization in labs, and ensuring proper stock, setup and operation of equipment for instructional labs.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent; include WES/ICAS for non-Canadian credentials.
• Current Practising License with CMLTO in good standing.
• First Aid and CPR certificates valid.
• Three years of experience as a medical laboratory technologist.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, collaboration, organizational and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with faculty to support the delivery of laboratory courses.
• Reinforce theory and laboratory techniques previously taught.
• Provide student feedback in the laboratory setting.
• Assist with demonstrations of laboratory procedures and safe practices.
• Prepare, set up, organize, stock, and clean laboratory facilities.
• Perform routine maintenance of laboratory equipment for safe operation.
• Maintain laboratory inventory, specimens, supplies and waste per regulations.

Job description

Cambrian College’s Schools of Health Sciences and Emergency Services requires Medical Laboratory Technologists on a part-time basis beginning September 2026. These positions are either temporary part time or on a casual "on-call" basis, up to 24 hours per week.

• Collaborate with faculty to support the delivery of laboratory courses
• Reinforce previously taught theory and laboratory techniques.
• Provide student feedback in the laboratory setting.
• Assist faculty with demonstrations of laboratory procedures and safe laboratory practices.
• Assist with the preparation, setup, organization, stocking, and cleanup of laboratory facilities
• Perform routine maintenance of laboratory equipment to ensure laboratories remain safe, functional, and ready for instruction.
• Assist in maintaining laboratory inventory, specimens, supplies, and laboratory waste in accordance with regulatory requirements and established laboratory procedures.
• Collaborate with faculty and fellow technologists to promote a safe, organized, and effective learning environment.

Required:

• Minimum of a three-year postsecondary diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent. (A copy of educational documents must be submitted with application *** education completed outside of Canada, applicants are required to submit a WES or ICAS with their application).
• Current Practising License with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO) in good standing.
• Must hold current First Aid and CPR certificates.
• Three years of experience as a medical laboratory technologist.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, collaboration, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Assets:

• Previous teaching, clinical instruction, or student mentoring experience in a postsecondary or clinical setting.
• Adult education certification
